PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A man charged with killing a 1-year-old girl is back in West Virginia.

Parkersburg police chief Joe Martin says two of his detectives returned 30-year-old Curtis Richards II of St. Marys to Wood County on Thursday morning. The detectives went to Texas, where Richards was being held, on Wednesday to pick him up.

Richards was captured in Mexico City last week with the help of the FBI and the U.S. Marshal Service.

A Wood County grand jury indicted Richards earlier this month on a murder charge. He is accused of killing 1-year-old Ariella Noel Merinar on Aug. 5.
