HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas (AP) - A 13-year-old Northeast Texas boy has been charged with capital murder in the June shooting deaths of his younger brother and their father.

Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe tells the Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/1x208hO ) the teen was arrested Tuesday night at the family’s home near Hughes Springs. The boy was arraigned Wednesday on two juvenile counts of capital murder.

Deputies on June 27 found the bodies of the 32-year-old man and the 12-year-old boy. The sheriff says officers responded to a 911 call from the 13-year-old boy.

Rowe says the warrants were issued following the discovery of new evidence. The sheriff declined to provide additional details.

The suspect, whose name hasn’t been released, remains at a juvenile detention facility pending another hearing later this month.
