BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - The head of St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation says he will retire next year after helping raise more than $100 million for the Billings hospital.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1tDwpho) 61-year-old David Irion will retire on June 1 after nearly 14 years as the president and CEO of the foundation.

Irion says he is announcing his decision now because he wants to give the foundation’s board of trustees enough time to find a successor.

He says he plans work on the foundation’s current projects up until June, and then may coach small nonprofits in philanthropy.

Foundation officials say they plan to announce the position opening in February with the goal of making a hire in mid-April.
