HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say an officer shot a suspect who they say pulled a gun on the lawman.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1yS2vat) that the shooting happened Sunday night after the officer pulled over a vehicle in a Huntsville apartment complex.

Police said the driver got out of the vehicle and was holding a gun. They say the man ran, the officer yelled at him to stop, and the suspect turned toward him still holding the gun. Police say the officer then fired at him, striking him at least once.

The suspect was taken to Huntsville Hospital. His name or condition was not immediately released.

Few other details were immediately available Monday morning.
