SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Springfield police say a man who crashed his car over the weekend, killing one of his passengers, asked officers who responded to the scene to arrest him.

Police announced Monday that 21-year-old Daquan Warrick has been charged with motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol in connection the crash on Roosevelt Avenue just before midnight Saturday that took the life of Tayquan Goodman. Two other passengers in the vehicle were not injured.

Police say when they arrived at the scene near American International College, the victim was pinned under the vehicle while witnesses tried to lift it and pull him out.

The shirtless driver was outside the vehicle and approached an officer asking to be arrested.
