FOLKSTON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in southeast Georgia say a 77-year-old woman is dead after she fell out of a boat while touring the Okefenokee Swamp with her husband.

Capt. Carl James of the Ware County Sheriff’s Office says that Ruby Kelley Causey of Efland, North Carolina, was killed Saturday when the boat her husband was piloting lurched forward and threw the couple into the water.

James told the Waycross Journal-Herald (https://bit.ly/1yc8ZOv) that the boat ran over the woman and pinned her beneath the water. Authorities said the couple had been camping in the area and spent Saturday on a boat visiting the swamp at the Georgia-Florida state line.

Officials at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge said Monday the Georgia Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death.
