PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) - A Portsmouth resident is facing charges after police say her vehicle hit and killed an 83-year-old pedestrian.

Police said Monday that 58-year-old Barbara Krensavage has been charged with reckless driving and driving to endanger resulting in death. Authorities say a preliminary investigation found that Krensavage was driving north on Sea Meadow Court around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when her car crossed the southbound travel lane and hit Marilyn Oglo, who was walking along the road.

The Portsmouth resident was pronounced dead at Newport Hospital.

Krensavage was held overnight and was arraigned Monday in Newport. A spokeswoman for the state attorney general’s office said bail was set at $20,000 with surety.

The accident is under investigation.
