BAHAMA, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say one man is dead and another man injured after a small plane crashed into a wooded area in northern Durham County.

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office told area media outlets that the aircraft went down in the town of Bahama (bah-HAY’-mah) around 12:25 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff’s deputies found the plane 50 yards into the woods from the nearest street.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Kathleen Bergen said in an email that the Beech 95 twin-engine aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Lake Ridge Aero Park Airport in Durham, which is about 15 miles south of Bahama.

Bergen said the FAA is investigating the crash and that the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause.
