HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Police in Helena arrested two men after reports of a robbery attempt and a shooting on the north side of the city.

Officers responded at about 1 p.m. Thursday to reports that someone may have been stabbed in an attempted robbery at Hastings. A person who followed a vehicle that left the scene reported its occupants shot at him.

A 38-year-old transient, Shadrick Macho Chippewa, was arrested on suspicion of attempted deliberate homicide, robbery, tampering with evidence and two counts of burglary. His co-defendant, 30-year-old Greg William Knows His Gun, faces robbery, evidence tampering and three burglary charges.

Officers recovered a firearm they believed was involved and they do not believe anyone was injured.
