CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Two Conway men have been convicted of murder in the 2011 death of a woman at her home.

Multiple media outlets reported an Horry County jury deliberated about six hours before returning the verdict against Carnail Graham, 28, and 25-year-old Thomas Booker James.

They were charged in the shooting death of Shaquille Pertelle, 19, at her home outside Conway.

Circuit Judge Steven John sentenced each man to 32 years in prison.

Keir Lamont Johnson, 24, of Myrtle Beach is awaiting trial on a murder charge in the case.

Prosecutor Nancy Livesay says the men planned to rob Pertelle’s boyfriend at the couple’s home. Livesay says the men kicked in the front door and Pertelle was shot as she was on the couch in the home.

“Shooting her was merely a step to get what they wanted, which was whatever drugs and money they could get out of that house,” Livesay said.

Defense attorneys had said Pertelle’s boyfriend, Rodney McElveen, shot at the two men and Pertelle mistakenly was shot.
