BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Democrats say President Barack Obama is coming to Bridgeport to headline a rescheduled rally for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

In an email sent Tuesday to supporters, the state party said Obama will appear Nov. 2. No further details were provided.

The president was originally scheduled to appear in Bridgeport for a Malloy campaign rally last week but abruptly canceled a planned trip to convene a meeting of his Cabinet about the government’s response to Ebola.

State Democrats have said people who had tickets for the original rally will have priority to attend the newly scheduled event.

Malloy is in a tight race against Republican challenger Tom Foley. Obama’s visit is seen as an opportunity for the Democrats to encourage the party faithful to come out and vote Nov. 4.
