CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - A funeral for former University of Illinois assistant basketball coach and prep-coaching standout Wayne McClain is planned for Wednesday.

According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (https://bit.ly/1nxdMJk ), the funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at the Fluid Event Center in Champaign. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery on the university campus.

A separate memorial service is planned for Manual High School in Peoria at 5 p.m. on Friday.

McClain won three state titles as head coach at Manual in the 1990s before he was hired at Illinois.

He later worked at Kansas State before spending last season as head coach at Central High School in Champaign.

McClain died Wednesday. Family members said he had lung cancer.
