LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) - A furniture retailer is planning to open a facility in west Georgia and create 100 jobs.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said in a statement Tuesday that W.S. Badcock Corp. is building a new regional distribution center in LaGrange at an estimated cost of $22 million. The new distribution center will replace two existing facilities in Thomson and Cullman, Alabama.

Officials say the 535,000 square-foot building is expected to open in the third quarter of 2015.

Badcock President Mike Price says the new distribution center is expected to handle current demand and anticipated growth of new stores.

Officials say Mulberry, Florida-based Badcock Corp. was founded in 1904 and employs 1,200 employees at more than 300 stores throughout the Southeast.
