EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Health advocacy groups are partnering in Michigan to help uninsured residents sign up for health coverage.

Nonprofit advocacy group Get Covered America announced the collaboration with the Aitch Foundation and Michigan State University HealthTeam on Monday. The groups plan public health care education and enrollment events during the second open enrollment period under the national Affordable Care Act. Enrollment begins Nov. 15.

Get Covered America National President Anne Filipic says events offering in-person help will be crucial to enrolling people. Filipic is touring Michigan to participate in a recruitment and training initiative to boost the state’s number of in-person enrollment assisters.

MSU HealthTeam will host an East Lansing enrollment event Dec. 6. In addition, Get Covered America will host other enrollment and education events in Grand Rapids and Detroit
