PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors has awarded a $2.3 million contract to J.E. Borries to dredge key areas of Simmons, Stark and Davis bayous in the Ocean Springs area.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1whuzAG ) the work is part of a larger FEMA grant to dredge material silted in during Hurricane Isaac several years ago

The county provides a 20 percent match to get the money.

The supervisors approved the contract on Monday.

A contractor recently finished the first of the dredging work — Bayou Porteaux and Bayou Porteaux east prong. The projects are beginning to pass the federal environmental requirements, go out for bid and be awarded.
