COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) - Police arrested a Myrtle Creek, Oregon, man accused of stabbing his female cousin in the abdomen with a large knife.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office says police officers from Coquille and Myrtle Point arrived at a home shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday. They found 21-year-old Cheyenne Workman with multiple stab wounds. She underwent surgery at Coquille Valley Hospital.

Her cousin, 37-year-old Jason Simons, was booked in the county jail on a charge of attempted murder. Bail was set at $1 million.

The sheriff and district attorney have yet to say what led to the stabbing.
