TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Pima County Attorney’s Office is declining to prosecute a Tucson police officer for his actions in a campus melee.

It broke out March 29 after the Arizona basketball team lost in the NCAA tournament at Anaheim, California.

Wildcats fans took to the streets and hurled beer bottles and firecrackers at officers who used pepper spray to disperse the crowd.

A student says she suffered an injured arm and back after being knocked over a bench by Sgt. Joel Mann.

Christina Gardilcic filed a $375,000 claim two months ago against Tucson, the city’s police department and Mann - saying she was blindsided by the officer as she walked to a parking garage.

Police say a criminal investigation into Mann’s actions was conducted independently by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
