COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A group that wants South Carolina to accept federal money to expand Medicaid is starting a 10-city tour before next month’s election.

The South Carolina Progressive Network is calling its tour the Healthy Democracy Road Show. It will start at the Governor’s Mansion in Columbia at noon Tuesday with a rally to tell Gov. Nikki Haley she and the Legislature were wrong to not take the money.

A second rally will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the now-closed Bamberg County Hospital where Haley was born.

The group wants to reach the roughly 175,000 registered voters it says could have gotten Medicaid if the program was expanded.

Other tour stops can be found on the Progressive Network’s website at https://www.scpronet.com/.
