HERKIMER, N.Y. (AP) - Sen. Charles Schumer will be in a central New York village to pledge his support for revitalizing a street where a gunman was killed by police after his shooting rampage left four people dead last year.

The New York Democrat is joining local officials this afternoon for a news conference in front of the Glory Days building on Main Street in the village of Herkimer.

In March 2013, 64-year-old Kurt Myers killed two people inside a barber shop in Mohawk and two others at a car care business in neighboring Herkimer. Myers holed up in the former Glory Days bar, where a police SWAT team fatally shot him the day after his rampage.

In July, part of the vacant three-story building collapsed because of its age and lack of maintenance.
