INA, Ill. (AP) - Services are set for an elderly couple killed in a house explosion in the southern Illinois town of Ina.

Jefferson County authorities say 87-year-olds Byford and Wastina Campbell died in the explosion Friday night.

Police Chief Travis Allen has said the home was on fire and a natural gas line was spewing flames when emergency crews arrived.

He says Ameren Illinois used a back hoe to shut off the gas after a gas meter on the side of the house continued to fuel the fire.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
