HOUMA, La. (AP) - The Terrebonne Parish Council is scheduled to finalize the appointment of a new clerk and two assistants next month.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1zj2NbJ ) the council introduced ordinances Monday night selecting Venitta Chauvin as council clerk, Suzette Thomas as assistant council clerk and Tammy Triggs as senior minute clerk.

A public hearing to ratify the selections is scheduled for Nov. 5. The council is expected to vote on the appointments the same night.

After former Council Clerk Charlette Poche retired early this month, there was confusion over the method of hiring the staff members.

Councilman John Navy said the council should put together a policy and procedure manual that would dictate the process for future staff selections.
