DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a woman lied to a Des Moines pharmacy worker about a man threatening to hurt the woman’s children if she didn’t get him some drugs.

Andrea Small now faces theft and other charges. Jail records say Small remained in custody on Tuesday. Her attorney, Grant Gangestad (GANG’-stehd), says she’ll plead not guilty.

Police say Small went into a drugstore around 4 a.m. Monday and told the pharmacy worker that the man had the woman’s children in a car outside. Small told the worker the man was demanding she bring him a painkiller.

Police say the worker gave Small bottles containing several hundred pills.

A car that picked up Small outside the drugstore was tracked to a Des Moines residence, where Small and three other people were arrested.
