GREENSBURG, La. (AP) - St. Helena Parish Coroner Jimmy Varnado says a woman found dead in a burning house on Oct. 11 has been identified as 39-year-old Marsha Allen.

Chief of Detectives Joe Chaney tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/ZMoMaN ) deputies suspect foul play.

On Monday, Chaney declined to discuss specifics of the case, saying it was still under investigation by his office and the fire marshal.

Varnado said the woman’s body has been sent to the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Until it is completed, he could not speak on Allen’s cause or manner of death.

Firefighters were called on Oct. 11 to a burning home on La. Highway 1043 north of Greensburg where they found Allen’s body.
