MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Six high school students in Shelby County have been suspended as the sheriff’s office investigates allegations of prostitution in a school bathroom.

Sheriff’s spokesman Chip Washington told WMC-TV in Memphis (https://bit.ly/1x8Z0bv ) deputies are looking into whether a Bolton High School student had sexual relations with fellow students for money.

The school district confirmed the suspensions in a statement issued Wednesday.

Parents and students claimed Monday that a 14-year-old girl was committing sexual acts in the boys’ bathroom, sometimes for $5 and other times for free, with multiple students per day.

Shelby County Schools put counselors in Bolton High School on Tuesday.

School administrators say more suspensions are possible. No one has been charged as the investigation continues.
