VERNAL, Utah (AP) - Authorities say they found the body of an oilfield worker near Vernal two days after he was last seen alive.

Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen says that 32-year-old Jeffrey Vaughn Mounga’s body was found Tuesday afternoon in the remote Dog Valley area. He had apparently committed suicide with a gun.

Officials with oilfield service company Cameron says Mounga, who worked them, was last seen about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies say he was found near his company-issued pickup truck.

An autopsy at the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office was planned.
