FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Fort Collins is bagging plans to charge shoppers for using disposable bags.

In the face of a grassroots opposition effort, city councilors voted Tuesday to repeal the 5 cent fee set to take effect in April.

The Coloradoan (https://noconow.co/1rqhEr5 ) reports that a citizens group opposed to the fee had collected about 2,600 signatures on a petition - enough for the bag fee to be put to voters to decide its fate.

Councilman Gino Campana says the success of the petition was enough to convince him to repeal the law.
