SOUTH HERO, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife says the John Guilmette (WIL’-met) fishing access area on Lake Champlain in South Hero is going to be closed for a minimum of two months while it is being upgraded.

Once the upgrades are complete, the area will feature an expanded two-lane concrete boat ramp with a 70-foot dock. There will also be a redesigned parking lot that will better accommodate people with disabilities.

The closure is going to begin immediately. Depending on the weather, it could last through the winter.

The project is being funded through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sport Fish Restoration Program.
