MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 26-year-old Minneapolis man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole following a fatal stabbing.

Quanan Machacek pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Tuesday for killing 25-year-old Cody Rasche in September. Authorities say Machecek admitted he was looking for someone to kill on Sept. 10.

Prosecutors say Machecek spotted Rasche walking with his girlfriend in Minneapolis and challenged him to a fight. Machacek stabbed Rasche several times in the neck. Authorities found Machecek hiding at a relative’s house after the stabbing.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says his case was resolved unusually quickly because he was willing to plead to first-degree murder instead of trying to make a deal for a lesser charge and sentence.
