LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 29-year-old Nevada ex-convict was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son in a Henderson apartment.

A state court jury found Michael Alan Lee guilty in August of first-degree murder and child abuse with substantial bodily harm.

But Lee on Tuesday again denied responsibility for the boy’s death.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1tbWX8z ) that defense attorney Nadia von Magdenko asked the judge to give Lee a chance at parole.

Von Magdenko said there was no evidence Lee chronically abused the boy before the June 2011 slaying.

Family members including the boy’s father, Dustin Aschenbrenner, mother Arica Foster and grandfather Brad Moshier described their pain at the death of Brodie Aschenbrenner.

Lee was previously convicted in 2004 of a string of armed robberies.
