PETAL, Miss. (AP) - Petal’s Board of Aldermen has voted to give Hattiesburg-based wastewater management company Earthworx LLC the green light to proceed with a study tailored to the city’s wastewater treatment needs.

Mayor Hal Marx tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1w86zSU ) more public hearings and meetings will be held when the $20,000 study is completed and city leaders have more information about how much the system will cost.

Julie Cooke, Earthworx director of communication, says decisions such as where the wastewater would be treated and sprayed have not been made at this time, but Earthworx is actively looking for acreage.
