KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - It’s a mystery around Halloween that had Knoxville police stumped.

Investigators were puzzled by an infant’s grave marker found outside of a business and are trying to figure out where it belongs. But, on Wednesday, a caller found a death certificate and said the rightful home of the marker was in Seymour, Tennessee.

Multiple media outlets reported that the grave marker turned up at about 6 a.m. Tuesday in front of an abandoned store.

The marker turned up around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The inscription on the marker reads:

Gilford E. Householder

Son of B.H. & S.A. Householder

Born March 30, 1915

Died May 14, 1915

Police have reached out to the cemetery to confirm the information. Once it’s confirmed, the marker will be returned to its rightful place.
