LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Pure Michigan tourism campaign will sponsor a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race for three more years.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan International Speedway announced their extended partnership Tuesday to host the Pure Michigan 400. Speedway president Roger Curtis says the two groups share the goal of bringing more visitors to Michigan.

The MEDC says the event has widely promoted the Pure Michigan brand since it began in 2011, especially with the help of grand marshals including former Detroit Lions football player Desmond Howard and musician Kid Rock.

The Brooklyn speedway says its 385,000 yearly visitors generate an economic impact of more than $414 million for the state. It says nearly 60 percent of race weekend guests come from outside of Michigan.
