YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Yuma County authorities says an autopsy has determined that an unidentified woman whose body was found floating in the Colorado River died from a gunshot wound.

The Yuma Sun (https://goo.gl/dYn0g9 ) says the woman’s body was discovered Oct. 15.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Alfonzo Zavala said investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and personnel from several agencies searched the area of the river where the victim was found for evidence, including signs of a crime scene.

Zavala says the woman’s body may have been in the water for three to five days.

The woman is described as Caucasian and between 18 and 30 years of age. She was wearing blue jeans and an orange tank top. She wasn’t carrying identification and had no visible identifying marks such as scars or tattoos.
