CROWLEY, La. (AP) - Authorities in Crowley say a police officer and a 20-year-old man traded gunfire after a traffic stop Thursday.

KATC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1DIUaGe ) there were no injuries but Jarvis Hopkins was arrested.

Investigators say a car was pulled over on North Avenue A shortly before midnight. Police Chief K.P. Gibson says Hopkins stepped out of the car and started shooting at the officer, then fled.

Gibson says the officer returned fire but missed. Hopkins was found and arrested a short time later.

Hopkins was booked at the Acadia Parish Jail for attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, resisting an officer and traffic violations.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
