GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Tom Erickson has been named director of the University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center.

Erickson has been serving as interim director of the EERC since July. He previous served as the center’s associate director for business, operations and intellectual property.

The EERC has had nearly 1,300 clients in 52 countries in the last 30 years. Over 960 clients have been from the private sector. The center’s research portfolio topped $202 million in fiscal year 2014.

Erickson earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in chemical engineering from UND.
