ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - An Illinois health care provider has received a $3 million state grant to renovate a former Rockford clinic into a new community health facility.

The Rockford Register Star reports (https://bit.ly/1ythvbV ) Gov. Pat Quinn announced the grant for Crusader Community Health on Thursday. Crusader plans to acquire and renovate the former Brookside Immediate and Occupational Care clinic.

The new clinic with be Crusader’s sixth major facility. President and CEO Gordon Eggers says the location will provide access to affordable and high quality health care for all residents.

The grant is awarded under 2009 legislation that helps fund renovations for outdated buildings, vacant commercial space and health center facilities.
