BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - A jury is scheduled to continue deliberating in the murder trial of a Brockton man charged with gunning down a witness in another homicide case.

Jurors in Brockton Superior Court are expected to continue deliberations Friday after starting Wednesday.

The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/ZPURhT) reports that Joao Fernandes is facing murder and gun charges in connection with the February 2010 shooting death of Manuel Rodrigues, who was shot six times on the porch of his girlfriend’s home as he headed to work.

Prosecutors say Rodrigues witnessed the murder of Moises Vicente and testified willingly before a grand jury hearing evidence against the suspect, Michael Barros.

Authorities say Fernandes and another man charged in Rodrigues’ shooting were Barros’ friends and killed the victim in retaliation.
