DETROIT (AP) - More test results are needed before authorities determine what killed a 7-year-old Detroit boy who weighed only 27 pounds.

Police say the boy’s mother and 28-year-old stepfather were arrested after bruises were found Thursday on Immanuel Foster’s body.

An autopsy has been performed, but the medical examiner’s office says more tests will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of Immanuel’s death.

Sgt. Mike Woody says the stepfather told investigators that he took the boy to the hospital Thursday after the 7-year-old complained of abdominal pain. He vomited before losing consciousness.

Authorities removed two younger children from the home and placed them with Child Protective Services.
