FOREST, Miss. (AP) - A Scott County woman is charged with manslaughter in the drowning of her infant son.

Sheriff Mike Lee says 25-year-old Amanda Strickland was arrested and charged this week with manslaughter and child abuse in the death of her son. She is held on a $200,000 bond.

Lee says Christopher Wilkerson Jr. died Aug. 8 in a bathtub in the mobile home. Lee says the child was less than a year old.

Lee says Strickland told investigators that she had placed Christopher in the bathtub with the water running to play in the water.

She said there was not a stopper in the tub, so she thought the water would drain.

Lee says investigators found a towel had fallen in the tub, causing it to fill with water.
