COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Franklin County sheriff’s office in central Ohio says a pedestrian has been killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver, while a second person was killed in a one-vehicle rollover accident.

Authorities say the two early morning Saturday fatal accidents were both in Prairie Township near Columbus.

Sheriff Zach Scott says that about 1:06 a.m. EDT, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee apparently lost control, went into a field and rolled over several times. The 29-year-old female driver was dead at the scene. Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors, but investigation is continuing.

Police say more than two hours later, 35-year-old Freddy L. Jeffers Jr. was struck by a vehicle and died at a hospital. Police say a 31-year-old man has been jailed on felony hit-skip charges.
