ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - Police in the town of Essex are advising residents to take in bird feeders and bring pets indoors after bears were spotted in a suburban neighborhood.

Bears getting after bird feeders present a common problem in Vermont, especially in areas where human settlements are near wild areas.

Essex Police are advising residents are urging residents that if they spot bears, they should not confront the animals or antagonize them in any way.
