DETROIT (AP) - Firefighters responding to a house fire on Detroit’s east side have found the body of a 53-year-old woman.

The Detroit News reports (https://bit.ly/1tU8r1v ) that Rita Walker was found in a bedroom at her home.

Detroit fire Capt. Patrick McNulty says a mail carrier alerted a neighbor Saturday morning after seeing smoke coming from the house.

McNulty says the Wayne County medical examiner’s office will determine how Walker died.

Ola Walker tells the newspaper her daughter worked nearly 18 years as a bus driver for the city.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
