DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Dubuque police and fire department officials say they are investigating two vehicle fires as arson.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1ta9CI9 ) that the fires were reported before dawn Friday in a parking lot.

Dubuque Fire Marshal Mark Burkle says one vehicle was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived. He says as crews extinguished that blaze, firefighters noticed a second vehicle in the lot had smoke coming from it and found its back seat on fire.

Burkle says investigators have sent samples from the vehicles to a crime lab in Ames.
