SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 35-year-old transient has been charged with murder in the strangulation death of a woman this summer in a motel in downtown Salt Lake City.

Jeffrey Allen Skog was arrested Friday in the death of 35-year-old Holly Carges. Her body was found inside a room at the Royal Garden Inn on July 17 with her arms bound behind her back with a belt.

Skog also was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/ksmjqsb ) his bail was set at $1 million.

Skog was convicted in September on a charge of receiving stolen property. Police said at the time he was a person of interest in another crime.

A witness told investigators Skog tried to pawn three gold rings he had taken from Carges.
