COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a central Ohio man has been sent to prison for 12 years for trying to arrange a sexual encounter with what he thought was an 11-year-old girl.

Officials said 42-year-old Richard Roman of Pataskala (puh-TAS’-kuh-luh) was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Columbus. He also was ordered to serve 20 years of supervised release.

Court documents say Roman was discovered by agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force to have posted a Craigslist ad soliciting sex with minors. They say in January Roman communicated with an agent posing as an 11-year-old girl and arranged a sexual encounter.

He pleaded guilty on May 8 to one count of attempting to coerce or entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
