RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Two top Rapid City officials have returned from visiting sister cities in Japan and Germany.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bitly.com/1wxUWna) that Mayor Sam Kooiker went to Nikko City, Japan, and city council president Jerry Wright toured Apolda, Germany. Both trips were in observance of the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationships between Rapid City and the two towns.

The city council had approved a maximum of $2,500 each for the travel costs of the trips.

Agreements to extend the sister city relationships were signed during the visits. Both officials stayed with host families, toured the cities, attended local events and learned about governments.
