SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) - Southampton maintained its incredible start to the Premier League on Saturday when Sadio Mane’s strike propelled the club to second place with a 1-0 victory over Stoke.

Although not as emphatic as last Saturday’s 8-0 rout of Sunderland, Southampton still collected maximum points from the fourth consecutive home game.

Mane scored his first goal since joining Southampton in the offseason in the 33rd minute. The Senegal midfielder turned home the rebound after Graziano Pelle hit the post.

Southampton went three points behind leader Chelsea, which has a game in hand and faces Manchester United on Sunday.
