SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Syracuse say a 24-year-old man is dead after he was shot at and later crashed his car into a tree.

Police say the shooting happened at 9:20 p.m. Saturday in Syracuse’s South Side neighborhood.

Police responded to a report of shots fired and found a dark-colored Volvo crashed into a tree.

The driver was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He was later identified as Anthony Sistrunk of Syracuse.

Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse police says Sistrunk was apparently being chased by someone in another car who was firing shots at him.

Police are still determining if Sistrunk died from gunfire or from the collision.
