BOWNE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Two women have died southeast of Grand Rapids after their van was struck by a pickup truck.

The Kent County sheriff’s department says the van’s driver made a quick stop at a rural stop sign in Bowne Township moments before the crash Saturday. Investigators say the driver of the pickup was not at fault.

The victims are 78-year-old Hazel Scobey and 63-year-old Lois Peterson. They lived in the Middleville area. Alcohol and excessive speed did not contribute to the crash.
