CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) - The state medical examiner’s office says autopsy results are pending on a 70-year-old man killed in a fiery crash outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Cromwell.

A spokeswoman for the agency declined to release information on the examination of Joseph Gilbert on Sunday, saying only that medical examiners were working with Cromwell police.

Police say the Cromwell resident was killed Saturday morning after his car crashed into a brick and concrete enclosure around the restaurant’s trash bins and caught fire. Firefighters say they found Gilbert dead in the driver’s seat.

Police say they’re still investigating the cause of the accident.
